Short answer: F7 on a Monogram oven is a keypad or membrane-switch fault: the control reads a button as stuck or shorted. On GE-built controls this leaves the oven beeping and refusing input. We test the membrane and control to find the culprit.
What F7 Indicates
The control scans the membrane keypad for button presses. If a button reads stuck or shorted, from a failed membrane or a shorted control input, it posts F7, often with continuous beeping, and stops accepting input. The oven is reporting that the keypad is not behaving normally.
Membrane or Control
We isolate the membrane from the control; if the fault clears with the membrane disconnected, the membrane is at fault, and if it persists, the control board is. This targeted test avoids replacing the wrong part.
The Repair
The fix is the OEM membrane keypad or control board, depending on which the test points to. After replacement we confirm the oven accepts input normally and F7 does not return.
Error & Symptom Reference
| Cause | Test Result | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Shorted membrane | Clears when disconnected | Replace membrane |
| Control input fault | Persists when disconnected | Replace control board |
| Moisture/spill | Intermittent F7 | Dry and retest |
| After repair | Accepts input | Verify, close job |
A Note on Parts and Safety
A repeating Monogram fault usually points to a failing part rather than a glitch, and that is where a technician saves you time and guesswork. Our technician isolates the circuit on the Monogram unit, tests the suspect parts, and replaces only what has actually failed. Photograph any display reading so the technician can match it to the fault chart quickly. If this has you stuck, we repair these units across the Greenwood Village area and put the price in writing before we start.
