- Active water leaks - from ice makers, dishwashers, or refrigerator condensate lines.
- Gas cooking faults - a burner that will not shut off cleanly, or a persistent gas odor.
- Full freezer failure - where a large amount of frozen food is about to be lost.
What You Can Do While You Wait
For a warming refrigerator, keep the doors closed to hold cold air, and move the most perishable items to a working unit or a cooler if you have one. For a leak, shut off the water supply to the appliance if the valve is accessible, and lay towels to protect flooring. For any gas concern, prioritize getting out and calling the utility.
